Gravity

Gravity runs in two directions. The effects from sorcery can be binding, controlling, deceptive or oppressive.........or it can be harmonizing, elevating or freeing. Many who practice the ways of sorcery, and these numbers are legion, are afraid of freedom. They think that freedom will cause people to run amuck and exert only destructiveness.

I understand the concern but ethics and education is also part of sorcery. The code of conduct that guides a person's life is easily transmitted and the free individual will generally buy into that code long before real freedom is grasped.

That is true in people's lives, and it is true in the life of nations.

What is sorcery

According to Wikipedia sorcery is the practice of manipulating consciousness and/or using autosuggestion to achieve a desired result.

Not a very inspired definition, and also somewhat of a smear. Sorcery does work with consciousness and does use a kind of auto-suggestion, or more specifically, enchantment.

But the question is, toward what end?

If it is to impose ones will in order for some kind of selfish gain that is black magic. If one uses enchantment to help a person have a particular kind of experience that in turn aids that person on their spiritual journey or in their life generally, surely that is positive sorcery.

How does the sorceror know? That is the secret. Intent and a clear understanding of who or what the sorceror serves is what ultimately determines the kind of sorcery that happens.

Sorcery and shamanism

Here in North America there is a common misperception that shamans are good and sorcerors are bad. Actually they are two different types altogether and both can practice their art with selfish intent.
